Studying in the Netherlands

Are you going to study in Utrecht for a Bachelor exchange period or a Masters programme? Use this acculturation course to prepare yourself for your studies in Utrecht, the Netherlands! In a period of two weeks you will learn about different aspects of the Dutch culture, the city of Utrecht and the Dutch education system.

Depending on your background and the academic course programme which you will pursue, you can opt for either Dutch or English language lab sessions. During language lab sessions you will either learn the basics of the Dutch language or you will focus on improving your English language skills in order to get ready for your study abroad period at Utrecht.

Get to know more about the Netherlands and its culture. Politics and democracy, polders and art are themes that will be discussed in the course to get familiar with the Dutch culture. And what about your future residence: Utrecht? During the course you will explore the city of Utrecht both from a historical and geographical perspective as well as from a practical perspective. Since the Dutch higher education system differs in a number of respects from many other education systems, the course also focuses on what it is like to be a student at a Dutch higher education institution. You will find yourself better prepared for Dutch academic life in which students are required to play an active role in the classroom.

All these themes will be discussed in a very varied programme. Trips to various museums and cities are included in the course too. There are outings, for example, to the famous Kröller Müller museum and to The Hague, the administrative capital of the Netherlands. After completing this course you will be fully prepared for your studies in the Netherlands!
