During the course the acquisition of teaching materials can be discussed with the course committee. The contents of the course are in line with recommendations of the Federation of European Laboratory Animal Science Associations (FELASA) regarding the training of the young scientist whose research involves the use of vertebrate animals.

TARGET GROUP
The course can be followed by anyone with at least a BSc degree in one of the biomedical sciences. In case the academic training has not been one of these, the candidate is kindly requested to send in a complete list of all relevant courses (including BSc studies) that he or she followed, and the number of hours they took. Based upon this we will judge whether registration is possible or not.
COURSE AIM
The objective of the course is to present basic facts and principles that are essential for the humane use and care of animals and for the quality of research. From the beginning of the course, emphasis is placed on the fact that the scientist is the central person in the design and performance of animal experiments, and that he/she has specific responsibilities with respect to the welfare of the animals used.

STUDY LOAD
Monday - Friday from 9 am until 5 pm (2 weeks)
FEE
• € 3335 - Course + course materials + housing
Students will be accommodated in hotels, arranged by the course leaders. This is separate from other Utrecht Summer School students.
Lunches and dinners during course days are included in the course fee.
SCHOLARSHIPS
Utrecht Summer School doesn't offer scholarships for this course.
