Creatives and entrepreneurs unite! In this intensive course, a small group of international students joins forces with our third-year students. You form mixed start-up teams and work on your own or a team member’s innovative idea. The course is very practical and hands-on, but you do get to know (and practice!) theories and learnings from Creativity and Entrepreneurship, demonstrating the value of design thinking, business modeling, customer validation and creative process. In the last course day you pitch your plan in front of a professional jury.

Do you want to create your own start-up and combine business thinking, social impact and creativity?
In this intensive interdisciplinary two-week course in September 2019, a small group of international participants joins forces with our third-year students. Together you work on your own or a team member’s innovative idea, or on an idea that you design together during the first week of the Summer Academy. In two intensive, fun and dynamic weeks, you gain skills and knowledge from the fields of Entrepreneurship, Creativity and Social Design. Short theoretical lectures are followed by very practical and hands-on workshops or group assignments. You work from the principles of the Lean StartUp Theory. Within two weeks you turn an idea into a working business model and plan, and pitch it in front of a jury of experts from the creative industries.

Since 2014 this Summer Academy is organized by the School of Art and Economics at Utrecht University of the Arts.

Important information: The summerschool program takes place at the start of the Dutch academic year. It is not only a summerschool, but also the introduction on entrepreneurship for our third-year students (who have chosen entrepreneurship as a specialization). So please note that the participants will consist of ca. 20 third-year students from the Utrecht university of Arts, some 5 students from other Dutch universities and max. 5 international participants (so roughly 30 students in total) of which 5 are international. Since we only have a few international places available, we give priority to applicants who are still studying or have only just graduated.
