Mastering Asset Integrity by managing the ability of industrial assets to perform its required function effectively and efficiently whilst safeguarding life and the environment. The activities ensure that the people, systems, processes and resources which deliver integrity are in place, in use and fit for purpose over the whole life-cycle of the asset.

How can we manage production risks without compromising on Safety, Health, Environment and image, while gaining maximum capital asset output and profitability? How should we organize our engineered systems, employees and production process to reach superior performance levels throughout the anticipated economic life of our systems? These are the questions the Asset Integrity manager or reliability-engineer nowadays has to tackle.

Once, this field of engineering was limited to maintaining and repairing assets to keep production levels up (think of production machinery, transportation needs, buildings and civil structures etc.). This paradigm shift from reactive and ad-hoc ‘fire-fighting’ to pro-active strategy based techniques is getting more and more popular.

Sustainability and performance contracting are also important drivers for this rapidly evolving professional field: Responsible design and exploitation of assets and resources under specific long-duration contracts are getting more popular. Combined with the growing complexity of assets, these developments ask for a new breed of managers. Managers, which are capable of speaking the top-management language, which are also competent in understanding and steering the operational side of work. According to the number of job vacancies, these managers are in high demand.

This course provides a first step into this intriguing field.
