The focus of the Mathematics Education course is: bringing participants up-to-date in design and research in the field of mathematics education. Topics will include: curriculum development, revealing and building on talents of students, classroom experiments, context and tools for modeling, assessment, and the use of technology for teaching and learning mathematics.

The summer course on Mathematics Education offers a blend of lectures, seminars and workshops on educational research and development in the fields of the early learning of mathematics and of primary, secondary and higher mathematics education. The program will be tailored towards the diverse interests of masterís students, PhD students, teachers, teacher educators, curriculum and assessment developers and researchers.

The Summer School is organized by the Freudenthal Institute of the Faculty of Science and the Freudenthal Group of the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences of Utrecht University.
The presenters are experts in the area of teaching and learning mathematics and in the domain-specific theory of Realistic Mathematics Education (RME).
