Utrecht, the Netherlands – At the official launch of the 2020 Summer School programme, Drs. Jeroen Torenbeek, Director Utrecht Summer School, presented the first copy of this year’s programme to Prof. Dr. Henk Kummeling, Rector Magnificus of Utrecht University. The Utrecht Summer School is a cooperation of Utrecht University, HU University of Applied Sciences and HKU University of the Arts and offers over 200 academic courses in 10 different disciplines. Course directors and lecturers of the various courses joined the official launch at Janskerkof in Utrecht, where the Summer Schools resides.
Every year in July and August, Utrecht Summer School attracts around 4,000 students from 125 different countries. The high quality, fully accredited summer courses are offered on bachelor, master and PhD level. All courses are taught in English and for most of the courses ECTS credits are rewarded.
Utrecht Summer School, founded thirty-three years ago, offers the largest academic summer programme in The Netherlands and is one of the biggest summer schools in Europe. In 1987, it started with one course: Dutch Culture and Society. Nowadays, three decades later, the summer school has developed a broad selection of strong academic courses covering a wide range of subjects. Utrecht Summer School aims at giving the participants an unforgettable stay offering an attractive social programme, including excursions, outdoor activities and social gatherings in July and August.
